Waterloo Road was a popular BBC One school-based drama and it first hit screens in 2006. Fans were delighted to hear a reboot of the series would air featuring some of the original cast. Some new additions have been announced and Express.co.uk has all you need to know.
Who is in the Waterloo Road reboot?
Returning cast members include Angela Griffin as headteacher Kim Campbell, Adam Thomas as Donte Charles and Katie Griffiths as Chlo Charles.
As filming begins in Greater Manchester, the new cast members include:
Nicky Walters – Kym Marsh
Nicky is a mother to two pupils at the school and she works in the canteen.
She is played by Kym Marsh, a 45-year-old actress best known for being a member of Hear’Say.
Her TV roles include Michelle Connor on Coronation Street, and she has been presenting Morning Live alongside Gethin Jones.
Valerie Chambers – Shauna Shim
Valerie is the school’s music teacher and she is played by The Worst Witch actress, Shauna Shim.
The 42-year-old was born in Florida and moved to the UK in 1989.
She has previously starred in Doctors, Crossroads and Holby City.
Wendy Whitwell – Jo Coffey
Wendy is the headteacher’s personal assistant and she is played by Jo Coffey.
Jo is a comedian and is a regular performer in comedy clubs around the UK.
She previously starred in EastEnders as Elspeth in 2021.
Neil Guthrie – Neil Fitzmaurice
Neil is the school’s history teacher and he is played by Neil Fitzmaurice.
Fitzmaurice, 52, is an actor, comedian and writer best known for playing Jeff in Peep Show.
He was also a writer on Phoenix Nights and Benidorm.
Lindon King – Vincent Jerome
Lindon is one of two deputy headteachers and he is played by Vincent Jerome.
The actor and writer has starred in Wonder Woman 1984 and Fool’s Errand.
Other notable credits include Need to Know and The Few.
Coral Walker – Rachel Leskovac
Coral is the new head of English and Rachel Leskovac plays her.
Leskovac is a 45-year-old actress known for her roles as Natasha Blakeman in Coronation Street and Joanne Cardsley in Hollyoaks.
Sharing the news of her new role on Instagram, she said: “Finally I get to tell you my big news!!!
“I am beyond excited to be joining the amazing cast, playing Head of English ‘Coral Walker’ – Miss Walker to you!!! In the iconic show that is @waterlooroad, it’s gonna be mega! #backtoschool #waterlooroad.”

Joe Casey – James Baxter
Joe is the other deputy head at Waterloo Road and he is played by James Baxter.
The 31-year-old actor played Anthony in Alma’s Not Normal and Leroy in Still Open All Hours.
On Instagram, he said: “Oi Oi…Very much looking forward to getting stuck into this. See ya’ll at school!” [Sic]
Jamilah Omar – Sonia Ibrahim
The school’s social worker is Jamilah Omar, played by Sonia Ibrahim.
The actress, TV presenter and model is the younger sister of actress Juliet Ibrahim.
Amy Spratt – Katherine Pearce
Amy is an early career teacher played by Katherine Pearce.
The star has featured in Rules of the Game, Coronation Street and Girlfriends.
The Waterloo Road reboot will air on BBC One later this year.
