Hale Barns stabbing – David Beckham's ex-security guard reveals harrowing moment he cradled dying teen after stabbing on posh Manchester street

DAVID Beckham's ex-security guard has revealed the harrowing moment he cradled a dying teen after the 17-year-old was stabbed on a posh Manchester street.

Paul Hughes, who worked as personal security for David Beckham for 12 years, desperately tried to comfort Yousef Makki after the A* student was fatally knifed.

But despite his best efforts, Paul revealed how the teen went into shock after the devastating attack on Saturday.

Makki, 17, died hours after Jodie Chesney — a girl the same age — was fatally stabbed in Essex. Their deaths took Britain’s knife murder toll to 21 in 62 days this year.

Speaking to the Sun Online, Paul, who runs Benchmark Security, said: "I provide security for some of the houses in the area and was on patrol with two of my colleagues. As we turned the car around the corner, I could see two lads on the other side of the road who were very irate and panicky.

"They flagged our car down because it looks a bit like a police car.

"As we got closer I could see there was another lad on the ground so we ran across to help.

"The lad on the ground was sat up and I could see he had been stabbed in the middle of his chest."

Paul said the wound did not appear to be bigger than an inch, adding: "He seemed responsive at first but then his body went into shock.

"He didn't say anything at all.

"We're trained to be first responders so we put him in the recovery position and the police and paramedics arrived soon after."

I told him we just did what we could. I wish we could've done more to be honest

Paul said he and other witnesses helped paramedics get the teen into the ambulance – later finding out the teen had passed away from his injuries.

He said he had since spoken to the grieving dad of Yousef, but was devastated at the outcome.

He said: "I told him we just did what we could. I wish we could've done more to be honest."

Straight-A student Yousef, said to be on a scholarship at elite £12,570-a-year Manchester Grammar School, died in Hale Barns following a row over a drug debt.

United stars Paul Pogba, Victor Lindelöf and Fred live in the upmarket Cheshire village, where houses fetch up to £5million.

Pals say Yousef dreamed of being a heart surgeon. A source said: “He got in with the wrong crowd. They fell out over weed. It’s such a waste.”
