A pregnant teenage girl was battling for her life in hospital after a car smashed into a tram this morning.
The 17-year-old was a passenger in a silver Vauxhall which collided with the tram at around 6.30am on Bilston Road in Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Paramedics said the teenage girl was found with ‘life-threatening’ injuries following the crash on Thursday morning and is fighting for her life at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The driver of the car, a boy thought to be aged 15, was treated for minor injuries in New Cross Hospital.

The city centre smash caused rush hour chaos in the city with huge tailbacks and West Midlands Metro tram services suspended.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘Staff worked quickly to administer advanced trauma care to the patient at the scene and on route to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
‘The second occupant of the car, a teenage boy, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious and was conveyed to New Cross Hospital.’
Tram services between The Royal and Wolverhampton St George’s were halted after the crash.
A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: ‘We were called at 6.34am this morning to a collision involving a tram and a car.

‘One female was assisted by fire service personnel. One male casualty vacated the vehicle prior to the crews’ arrival and received first aid treatment at the scene.
‘Fire service crews made the tram safe and are assisting West Midlands Ambulance Service.’
According to the Express and Star, West Midlands Fire Service added: ‘The driver of the car was able to extricate himself before our firefighters arrived.
‘On advice of paramedics, we assisted a pregnant passenger, who was not trapped by injuries, from the car who was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and the car was made safe by our firefighters.’
