Princess Charlene of Monaco has been reunited with her family for the first time in three months as she recovers from a mystery operation.
She shared pictures of herself and husband Prince Albert with their children, Gabriella and Jacques, on Instagram.
Charlene caption the photo: ‘I am so thrilled to have my family back with me (Gabriella decided to give herself a haircut!!!) Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it.’
The former Olympic swimmer, 43, who is originally from Cape Town, has been recuperating in South Africa after contracting a ‘serious sinus infection’.
On August 13, the Monaco palace released a statement which said she was undergoing an operation ‘for four hours under general anaesthesia.’
It did not provide any further information or say whether the op was linked to the princess’ infection.
The family were last seen together on safari in June and Charlene has remained in her home country ever since – fuelling rumours about the future of the marriage.
Charlene has missed several high profile engagements and has not been seen in Monaco since January.
Royal sources have said she has no intention of returning although officially she’s meant to be back in the principality in October.
Albert is due in court this year to contest a paternity suit over claims he fathered a secret love child during a passionate affair with an unnamed Brazilian woman in 2005.
If true, this would have coincided with when he and Charlene were first dating. His representatives have called the suit ‘a hoax.’
DNA tests have already proven Albert is the father of two illegitimate children born in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Charlene has publicly backed her husband, calling him her ‘rock’ in Instagram posts which also detailed how she missed her children.
The princess has said previously that she only intended to be in South Africa for 12 days but was told she couldn’t fly due to a problem ‘equalising her ears’.
It meant she missed her and Albert’s 10th wedding anniversary in July, although she did share a video online to mark the occasion.
The royal commentator Stéphane Bearn wrote in this month’s edition of Paris Match that the people of Monaco are becoming increasingly frustrated by the actions of their runaway princess.
