A WEATHER warning for snow has sparked a travel chaos alert this morning as wintry conditions continue to batter parts of the UK.
Brits are bracing for an Arctic freeze with temperatures as low as -5C amid gusts of 70mph near the coastlines during the Spring cold snap.
This morning, there is a yellow weather alert for snow in place for parts of the Highlands and northern Scotland – with flurries set to cause travel disruption.
Roads and railways will be affected with drivers warned about icy surfaces.
The Met Office said that up to 4cm of snow will settle on high ground by Thursday morning – with ice forming on inland and upland roads.
The warning states: "Wintry conditions overnight and early Thursday may lead to some travel disruption in a few areas.

"Overnight showers and longer spells of rain and sleet, will turn increasingly to sleet and hill snow by Thursday morning, leading to snow accumulations on higher ground, with 1-4 cm above 300m.
"Temporary low-level accumulations are possible, perhaps mainly across Caithness but should be short-lived.
"Ice may form on some inland and upland roads by morning."
The mercury could get as low as -3C this morning in Scotland – with temperatures close to zero in the early hours of the morning in northern parts of England.

Meanwhile, Brits are set to see freezing temperatures by the end of the week – with lows of -6C and around 12 centimetres of snow.
Arctic air from the north will gradually take a grip over the whole country, and as The met Office warns, the cold air “will win out eventually” by the end of the week.
Maps from WXCharts show temperatures getting as low as -4C on Thursday and could dip to -5C over the weekend with widespread frost across the UK.
And overnight, Brits in Northern Ireland, North West England and North Wales were hit with intense gales – reaching 70mph.

There was a yellow weather warning for wind in place until 5am this morning for the blistering gales.
The Met Office said that the strong winds could cause travel disruptions overnight and in the early hours of the morning.
