Where is Carson Grimes now?

ONE of the UK's most prolific child abusers has finally been brought to justice after a dedicated cop's three-year battle to put him behind bars.

The devastating case of Carson Grimes' catalog of abuse was uncovered in an episode of Channel 4's 24 Hours in Police Custody.

Who is Carson Grimes?

Carson Grimes is a 65-year-old from Luton, Bedfordshire who abused vulnerable young children – particularly boys – over a 20 year period.

The pedophile lured youths back to his "house of horrors" before plying them with drugs and alcohol or spiking their drinks with sedatives.

He then raped and sexually assaulted the children before threatening them and their families if they told anyone of his abuse.

Almost all of the victims were living in care or had been in juvenile detention centres and if they reported Grimes they were not believed.

The vile abuser who was also known as Carson Phillips, began his sick spree in London before vastly escalating his behaviour when he moved to Bedfordshire in the 1980s.

The majority of his victims went on to become "prolific burglars", acquired addiction problems, self-harmed or attempted suicide – with one taking their own life.

The harrowing case was brought to light in two episodes of 24 Hours In Police Custody.

What is Operation Ceroc?

Operation Ceroc is the investigation that exposed Grimes' horrific crimes and became Bedfordshire Police’s largest ever case into historic abuse.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Foy urged the force to re-open an investigation into Grimes and spent months analysing allegations previously made against him.

It saw him arrested eight times by police, but never convicted.

But the dedicated cop from the Child Sexual Exploitation unit uncovered his reign of terror that spanned over two decades.

They discovered that Grimes had targeted children aged four to 15 between 1982 and 2002.

He abused at least 12 vulnerable children for a period of more than 20 years – but police suspect he may have groomed up to 30 potential victims.

DC Rachel Foy painstakingly tracked down the youngsters, who are now adults, and persuaded nine of them to appear in court.

How did they catch Carson Grimes?

In September 2017, a 30-year-old prisoner revealed he had been assaulted by Grimes and had only managed to escape him when he went to jail.

He first met the monster when he was aged 11 who quickly "found out what family he had" to assess how he could manipulate him.

The victim was given drugs by Grimes, including cannabis, crack and heroin, and managed to convinced the teen that "what he was doing wasn't wrong."

He was sent to jail at age 15, but regarded it as his "safe place" as his abuser could not reach him there.

Grimes even stood trial in 2008 for the rape of an adult man but was acquitted after claiming the assault had been consensual, despite forensic evidence supporting the allegation.

He was eventually arrested in 2018 after a three-year pursuit for justice, spearheaded by Rachel Foy.

An officer who worked on the case, Supt Steve Ashdown, described it as "one of the worst I've ever been involved with".

Where is Carson Grimes now?

Grimes was found guilty of his sickening abuse that took place between 1982 and 2002 at Luton Crown Court in July 2021.

A jury convicted him of 11 counts of rape, and eight counts of buggery – an offence which was re-classified as rape in 1994, 11 counts of indecent assault, and six counts of indecency with a child.

The 65-year-old predator denied all charges. He is due to be sentenced on October 13, 2021.

The judge described him as "a modern-day Fagin character" after the court heard disturbing statements detailing his abuse from nine victims and several witnesses.
