Danni Menzies had a head-on collision with a speeding moped as she walked out of a London shop, leaving her unconscious on the pavement with severe bleeding and suspected brain damage. At one point, the 34-year-old A Place in the Sun star, who was left with scars after the accident, cried every day and thought she was “losing it”.

However, she was scared to open up about what she was going through, in case it deterred companies from hiring her.

Telling all on an emotional Instagram post, she shed light on how the unexpected collision had impacted her mental health.

“After my accident I couldn’t work for 3/4 months [and] once my face healed my mental health wasn’t great,” she grimly admitted.

“Trauma’s a weird thing. Processing. At one point I cried everyday for three weeks, and at times really thought I was losing it, everything was coming out.”

Danni confessed she was at first reluctant to share her pain, because “no one wants to hire the girl crying every day on the gram”.

However, then it hit her that her experience could speak to others in a similar situation.

“I wanted to share in case you need to hear it. Everyone has highs and lows and you’re never alone,” she advised.

The former A Place in the Sun presenter added: “It really helped me to concentrate on the things I could control.

“The time you spend, and how you speak to your loved ones. What you put in your body and what you do with it, exercise if you can always helps.

“Work on these three things, they feed your soul and just keep going.”

The usually buoyant star shared a compilation on Instagram of her favourite moments that had helped her heal, showcasing the special bond she has with horses, and showing her walking by the sea.

“Don’t feel bad for leaning on the people that love you, tough times are just as important as the good,” she advised her 109,000 followers.

“I am so incredibly grateful to be having times like this and thanks for coming along with me on here for the ride! Big love.”
