Britney Spears and Madonna recreated their dramatic MTV VMAs kiss at the Baby One More Time singer’s wedding to her fitness trainer fiancé, Sam Asghari on Thursday.
Madonna, 63, and Britney, 40, are arguably some of the most iconic pop stars of our time, and they shocked the world as they locked lips onstage in 2003, firmly shrugging off Britney’s girl-next-door image.
For the stunt, the pair were joined onstage by Christina Aguilera as they performed together, and Christina also shared a kiss with Madonna, although it wasn’t quite as racy as the one between Madonna and Britney.
Madonna was one of the A-listers invited to the intimate wedding that was held at Britney’s Los Angeles home yesterday, and the pair made time to catch up at the after-party where they got a snap whilst kissing on the lips.
Britney was dressed on one of her many outfits of the day – three to be precise – all designed by world-renowned fashion designer, Donatella Versace.
The newlywed wore her blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail and she showed off her huge diamond engagement ring as she planted a kiss on Madonna, real name Madonna Louise Ciccone, who was wearing a brightly-coloured maxi-dress.
Britney’s guest list, which did not include her parents, Jamie and Lynn, or sister, Jamie-Lynn Spears, featured some of the top names in showbiz.
In attendance at the wedding was; Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Carter Reum, Kathy Hilton, Maria Menounos, Ansel Elgort, will.i.am, Donatella Versace and, of course, Madonna.
According to Vogue, Britney, 40, and Sam, 28, did not share a first dance as husband and wife, but Britney instead joined some of her A-list guests including Madonna and Selena Gomez as they danced to Britney’s smash-hit song, Toxic.
Not stopping there, Britney also sang along to Paris Hilton’s hit Stars Are Blind, along with the hotel heiress and socialite herself.
The wedding took place in a marquee erected outside Britney’s $7.4million home in Thousand Oaks, California.
Of the theme for the wedding, Britney told Vogue: “We really wanted to make this a small and beautiful moment with family and friends,
“We wanted warm and feminine colours including blush, white, cream, and gold, and a lot of various shades of pinks, blush, and reds.”
The wedding day wasn’t without drama though, as the day was nearly ruined when Britney’s ex-husband Jason Alexander trespassed on Britney's wedding venue.
40 year old Jason, who was married to the songstress in 2004 for 55 hours, took to Instagram Live where he revealed that he was walking around the property.
Ventura County Sheriff's Department told the PA news agency that an altercation had occurred with security officers and he had been charged with four misdemeanour offences.
