Candlebox recently released a new single, “What Do You Need,” from their upcoming final studio album, The Long Goodbye.
“What Do You Need,” which features Mona‘s Nick Brown, sees Candlebox bringing out in full their hard rock and blues influences. Candlebox and Brown co-wrote the song.
In an interview with Heavy Consequence, Candlebox’s Kevin Martin called “What Do You Need” arguably his favorite Candlebox song to date and also spoke about the association with Brown.
“When the opportunity arose for me to work with Nick, I knew immediately what I was going to get from this song and exactly how much I was going to love it,” Martin mused. “I’ve been a fan of Nick’s and Mona for a long time, and I’ve always admired where he comes from as a lyricist and songwriter. … ‘What Do You Need’ might be my favorite song on The Long Goodbye and maybe even my favorite Candlebox song to date!”
Brown added, “Being able to write and collaborate with Kevin was a great experience. It’s always nice to work with someone who has artistic integrity but also has his eyes wide open on where pop culture is going. This song was a sentiment that everyone with a rock and roll heart has: ‘Don’t budge, be yourself & ASK MORE QUESTIONS?'”
The 10-track The Long Goodbye, produced by Don Miggs, is scheduled to arrive on Friday (August 25).
