David Beckham ‘told Brooklyn how to be a husband’ in ‘sentimental and long’ wedding speech

David Beckham told his son Brooklyn "how to be a husband" in his wedding speech, it has been revealed.

The football legend, who recently visited his mum Sandra and tucked in to his favourite childhood meal, made a long speech at his son’s wedding to Nicola Peltz.

The young loved-up couple married in March this year, in a lavish ceremony thought to cost over $3million.

The pair have shared more details about their big day in Vogue, and revealed that David's speech was much longer than the others.

He included several witty one-liners, fitting for a father of the groom, as well as sentimental observations about romance and relationships.

And Brooklyn says the most memorable part of the speech was the fitting advice he gave him on how to be a husband.

"He said, 'The most important thing is to make each other happy. And treat your Mrs like gold.'"

David also made reference to the many interesting hairstyles he has had throughout Brooklyn’s life, adding "but never my wife".

He also referred to Brooklyn's outfit at his parents' wedding, where David and Victoria dressed him in a miniature cowboy hat.

Brooklyn joked: "I'm sure we still have that hat somewhere."

David wasn't the only Beckham to make a speech at the wedding, with the groom's brothers Romeo and Cruz making best men speeches.

The pair both claimed to be the better sibling, as well as poking fun at Brooklyn for his "lovey-dovey" posts with his new wife.

Even Nicola's brother got in on the act, giving Brooklyn two pieces of advice in his speech: "Rule number one: Happy wife, happy life. Rule number two: Don’t f**k up rule number one."

In his speech, Nicola's father said he was thankful the families were able to celebrate the occasion despite the fact there is so much suffering going on elsewhere in the world, and proudly referenced Brooklyn and Nicola's non-profit work.

The couple asked guests not to give them presents, but instead asked for donations to the Care Foundation's Ukraine fund.

Victoria Beckham shared even more insight into the wedding of the year, uploading a series of behind-the-scenes snaps to Instagram.
