With the one year anniversary of their official departure from the royal family in view, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are finally ready to speak.
CBS announced today that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have filmed a primetime special with Oprah Winfrey to be aired on March 7.
“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” CBS said in a statement for Oprah with Meghan and Harry shared with BAZAAR.com.
Meghan and Oprah will sit down together one-on-one for much of the 90-minute special, before being joined by Harry for his own insights. The couple will open up to Oprah “about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family,” says the press release.
The special is produced by Oprah’s Harpo Productions, and is being executive produced by the company’s executive vice president Terry Wood and Emmy Award-winning Tara Montgomery, who was supervising producer of The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 seasons.
Though Meghan has received countless requests from around the world to share her story, there was only one person right for the job. The Sussexes have been close to Oprah since the early days of their relationship, after being introduced to the TV legend by a close US-based associate of the duchess in 2017.
As well as attending Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle, Oprah is a fellow Montecito, California resident, living close to the couple’s compound. In December, she shared an Instagram video of a gift basket from Meghan featuring products from Clevr Blends, a super latte company the duchess privately invested in after moving back to the United States.

Oprah is also working with Prince Harry on a mental health docuseries for Apple TV+, which the pair began work on in 2019 and hope to air later this year.
