Simon Gregson's wife Emma has opened up on the star's battle with anxiety.
The Coronation Street star, who is currently taking part in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! would "never have done" the show 10 years ago, according to his wife Emma.
Emma, 38, explained how her husband Simon, 47, once battled with crippling anxiety.
She explained to the Mirror Online: "Ten years ago there would have been absolutely no way he would have done I’m A Celeb.
"So to watch him go in and take on the unknown, which he was really nervous about, to actually embrace it and to look so relaxed while he is doing it, we are dead proud of him.
"I was very emotional watching. When we first got together he couldn’t leave the house or go to restaurants because it was so bad.
"One time we went to stay in our caravan in Anglesey and Simon thought he was having a stroke and dying. His whole face dropped and we had to call an ambulance."
She continued: "He got to the hospital and they told him he had a panic attack.
"He has since been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and it has completely changed his life. He was medicated and there was a reason why he felt like he did.
"That changed everything for him, so he could understand what was wrong. Now he speaks to a lot of people on social media about it and he likes helping people."
Simon has been incredibly open about his struggles with fame – and even said in the castle how he didn't enjoy the limelight that came with being in Corrie.
In recent scenes, Simon revealed to his fellow camp mates: "It was difficult for a while to adjust. This isn’t what I planned for myself and I do not like it.

"I hated it. The fame side of it I hated it."
Meanwhile, Emma explained how settling down and starting a family has helped Simon cope.
She revealed: "When he was 15 he really struggled with fame.
"He didn’t know how to deal with it.
"When I met him he was drinking heavily and he would have a wild time partying. We did a bit of partying but then I told him I wanted a family.
"Becoming a dad has helped him cope, he cares a little bit less about what people say, and we don’t go out and socialise as much as we used to."
