I’m A Celeb’s Carol Vorderman supported by fans over ‘panic attack’

Carol Vorderman tearful after not attempting I’m A Celeb trial

Carol Vorderman has thanked her fans for their support after she was seen suffering a panic attack during her I’m A Celebrity Bushtucker Trial.

The Countdown queen was chosen to take part in the latest trial alongside Olympian Fatima Whitbread.

When they reached the trial clearing, they were met by Ant and Dec who told them what was going to happen.

Ant explained: “This is Tanks of Torment. Carol, it’s your job to swim through the four sections of the tank, collecting stars as you go.”

Dec continued: “You will only be able to move through the sections once Fatima has raised the doors that separate them.”

Despite what Carol referred to as her “buoyant bottom”, she managed to complete the first tanks successfully, netting the camp seven stars.

But after seeing that there was a snake in the final breathing hole, Carol struggled to move forwards.

She explained her biggest fear was drowning and with the snake in the breathing hole, she decided she was unable to continue.

Carol was in tears as she confided in Fatima on the way back to camp but they resolved to keep it to themselves.

“I don’t want to tell them in camp I’ve been sobbing,” she said.

Ahead of her stint on the show, which was pre-recorded, Carol admitted she really struggled with some of the trials and “nearly died”.

She said: “Some of the trials are: ‘HOLY C**P! How did I live?!’ I’m not exaggerating.

“There was one trial that petrified me. And I’m not frightened of anything. I don’t think I’ve ever been as scared in my life.

“And the b****rs took what we’d call a trial – I was thinking: ‘I can cope with that because I’ve done it before’ – and put it on speed.

“Everyone will love watching it. It was brutal.”

Following last night’s episode, Carol took to social media to thank fans for their supportive and heartfelt messages.

She said: “Thank u for your amazing messages about [I’m A Celeb] tonight. I had the first panic attack of my life but pushed as much as I was able. The snake in the final breathing hole was a tank too far.” (sic)

One fan replied: “Must admit Carol, I often think I’m a bit heartless with most things but felt for you on that task tonight and welled up a bit. You did well to get as far as you did…well done!”

Another said: “You’ve gone way beyond anything that most people would do! Brava!”

Whilst a third added: “I thought you were incredible to do that… be very proud of yourself, you were amazing!!”
