Friends star Matthew Perry dies aged 54
Julia Roberts broke her silence on Matthew Perry’s “sudden” passing as she looked back on her guest appearance on Friends.
The 56-year-old actress and the Chandler Bing star dated for three months in 1995 after her appearance on the hit NBC sitcom.
Sharing her thoughts in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, the Oscar winner said it’s “heartbreaking” that Matthew died so suddenly.
“The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,” Julia said in the interview, published December 4.
“I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.”

Julia also reminisced about her time on Friends, where she portrayed a former childhood classmate of Matthew’s character, Chandler Bing, during the interview.
She recalled: “All good thoughts and feelings. They were all so welcoming to me as just a kind of a one-off character and it was a really fun time.”
Matthew shared some details about his relationship with Julia in his 2022 memoir, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.
He looked back on their “three-month courtship” where they sent each other letters via fax.
“I was so excited that some nights I would find myself out at some party sharing a flirtatious exchange with an attractive woman and cut the conversation short so I could race home and see if a new fax had arrived,” Matthew wrote.

Matthew passed away at his home aged 54 and now rests alongside many other well-loved Hollywood stars at the Forest Lawn Church of the Hills, located within the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
The actor was privately buried during a memorial service held at a cemetery with actress Jennifer Aniston among the high-profile mourners.
The final resting place for Matthew, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, holds significance for fans of the hit series Friends as it is situated directly across from Warner Bros Studios.
While numerous exterior and cityscape shots were filmed in New York to capture the essence of the city, the majority of the series was actually filmed and produced at the renowned Warner Bros Studios in California.
