Karlie Kloss Says She "Tried" to Talk With Ivanka and Jared Amid Pro-Trump Mob Breaking Into the Capitol

Yesterday, a violent pro-Trump mob broke into the U.S. Capitol Building as Congress held a ceremonial event to affirm President-Elect Joe Biden’s win against Donald Trump. And in a since-deleted tweet, Ivanka Trump made it perfectly clear where she stands, calling the rioters “American patriots” in a post that read, “American Patriots—any security breach or disrespect to our law enforcement is unacceptable. The violence must stop immediately. Please be peaceful.”

(She later claimed she wasn’t calling the mob “patriots” saying, “Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms.”)

No. Peaceful protest is patriotic. Violence is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest terms. https://t.co/GwngZTqzTH

Meanwhile, Ivanka’s sister-in-law Karlie Kloss (who is married to Jared Kushner’s brother Joshua Kushner) also tweeted as Trump supporters breached the U.S. Capitol, writing, “Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic. Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American.”

Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic. Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American.

A follower then replied “Tell your sister in law and brother law [sic],” to which Karlie responded “I’ve tried.”

I’ve tried

Karlie has addressed her close connection to Ivanka and Jared before on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, saying, “I’m sure I’m not the only person in this country who does not necessarily agree with their family on politics. I voted as a Democrat in 2016 and I plan to do the same in 2020.”

But people on Twitter seemed largely unimpressed with her response, with comments like “Here’s ur medal,” “Try harder,” “Did u give them a pepsi,”and “Not even to dinner with the kushners?”
