Kerry Katona breaks silence on absence at court for historic offence

Kerry Katona, 42, has broken her silence on her absence from court, as the star admitted she was “completely unaware” that she was meant to be there last week.

The former Atomic Kitten singer was supposed to be in court to appeal an historic driving offence.

However, Kerry has now explained she didn’t attend as she and her fiancé Ryan Mahoney had previously attempted to contact the court and didn’t get a response.

Writing in her new! magazine column, Kerry shared: “Last Tuesday, I was supposed to be in Manchester Crown Court, but I was completely unaware.

“Ryan and I sent an email to them two weeks ago to see if I needed to attend, but we didn’t hear back. It was for a driving offence from 2018.

“It was so long ago I can’t remember any of it. It was mixed messages between me and the court unfortunately but all is sorted now.”

“In the end, the case was dismissed by the judge and it was thrown out of court, so that’s a relief,” the reality TV star added.

The offence occurred back in August 2018 when Kerry failed to give information to police about an alleged driving offender in Ripley, Derbyshire.

Kerry was fined £660 at Chesterfield Magistrates’ Court in March 2019, alongside having to pay a £66 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Due to her not appearing in court last week, the case was dismissed.

It comes after the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner claimed her financial situation was improving after signing up to adults-only site OnlyFans.

Kerry previously shared that she feels more “in control” of her image on OnlyFans than she did while appearing in lads’ mags earlier on in her career.

The mum-of-five claimed she previously felt “exploited” and “taken advantage of” during the early stages of her rise to fame, when she was younger and more “vulnerable”.

Kerry says she’s made at least £1 million so far from her OnlyFans page.

She also divulged in her magazine column that the industry has “changed a lot” since her earlier experiences.

“Now I much prefer being in control of my content on OnlyFans,” the star revealed.
