Kerry Katona has admitted she "thought she was going to die" after her chest and throat became swollen.

Kerry, 42, explained she had a "massive" panic attack while she was in bed alone and felt like she couldn't breathe. Writing in her column, she says: "My throat and chest felt really tight, it was awful. I felt like I was going to die." Sign up – for free – to see what she has to say.

My health fears

I had a massive panic attack last week. It was the first one I’ve had in a while. My body has been swollen since I had surgery last year. My whole body is sore and puffy – my legs, my stomach, my face, my neck. I feel like I need popping.

I was lying down in bed and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. My throat and chest felt really tight, it was awful. I felt like I was going to die. I’ve arranged a call with my doctor but if it gets worse I’ll go to A&E.

I suffer from health anxiety and I’m really scared. I’m having corrective surgery in January with Pall Mall Cosmetics after my tummy tuck last year, so I’m hoping that will help. I’m getting an eyelid lift too. Only a small one – I don’t want cat eyes!

The name game

The most popular baby names of 2022 have been revealed and Lilly is number two on the girls’ list. It doesn’t surprise me that it’s still popular as it’s a really pretty, beautiful name.

I struggled with Lilly’s name when she was born – I didn’t have one for two days. Brian wanted to call her an Irish name like Mary, but I thought Lilly went really nicely with Molly. I always knew I wanted my first to be called Molly. When I first started dating Brian, I remember telling my mum that if we ever got married and had a baby, I’d want a baby girl called Molly.

Men are treated differently

Meghan Markle has spoken out about female sexuality, saying that women are more vilified than men. I totally agree. I get called a “5×3 mum” but nobody says anything about the dads. I’m the one bringing up the children, yet I’m the one who is getting derogatory remarks.

It is interesting how women are treated differently. I didn’t grow up thinking that I wanted five children to three different men, but that’s how life worked out. We all grow up watching Disney films but that’s not realistic. Everyone deserves a happy ever after and it doesn’t matter how you get there.

Panto fun

Despite being so swollen and in pain, I’m now in panto rehearsals for Cinderella and I’m pushing through. Me and Lilly are having so much fun. We’re working with Jake Quickenden, who’s playing the Fairy Godfather, and we’re having a ball.

I did Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins with Jake so I know him well. We’re a little panto family. We’ve been hanging out – watching I’m A Celebrity… together and going to the gym.

I’ve been trying to get back into a routine with my fitness and it’s nice to train with a group. We push each other to be motivated. You can get panto tickets at newtheatreroyallincoln.co.uk.

Kelsey deserves happiness

Tom Parker’s widow Kelsey Parker has reportedly embarked on a new relationship eight months after The Wanted star sadly died of a brain tumour in March.

Anyone who is judging Kelsey needs to leave her alone. People grieve in different ways. If you haven’t been in Kelsey’s position, then you’re not fit to judge. She has been through a hell of a lot and she deserves to smile. I wish her nothing but happiness and love.
