Mel C has reportedly split from her boyfriend of almost seven years, Joe Marshall.
The Spice Girl and music producer have been together since December 2015, with Joe acting as her manager more recently as their relationship strengthened.
The couple are said to live together in North London, along with Mel’s daughter Scarlet, 13, from her relationship with property developer Thomas Starr, and Joe’s two children.
However, apparently busy scheduled pushed the two apart in recent months with Mel ‘not afraid to be single if she thinks it’s for the best’.
An insider said their split was ‘amicable’, with Mel prioritising spending her spare time with Scarlet.
‘Mel has an incredibly busy career between her book deal, DJ-ing and other plans,’ a music industry source said.
‘The little free time she does have is devoted to her daughter Scarlett, and that doesn’t leave much time for a relationship,’ they added to The Sun.
The 48-year-old singer has always kept her private life out of the spotlight, rarely speaking about her romance or daughter.
In a one-off comment about Joe, Mel told Closer in 2016: ‘He challenges me but respects and loves me. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a relationship where someone has got my back.’
Mel has had a busy time of late after being forced to cancel part of her tour at the end of last year due to Covid, as The Spice Girls get set to mark the 25th anniversary of their second album Spiceworld.
The Gogglebox star also has an autobiography coming out and was celebrating former band mate Geri Horner’s 50th birthday on Saturday with throwback photos, as she teased: ‘Oh the adventures we have had!’
Recent reports suggested her birthday could be the perfect backdrop for a special reunion as a five-piece, and the group’s first performance together since the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.
Whether or not that has gone ahead remains to be seen, but the band *is* reuniting for a new documentary celebrating their unprecedented rise to superstardom.
