Olly Murs says Mark Wright ‘doesn’t remember drunken housewarming gig’

Olly Murs was one of the headline acts at the star-studded Marchella housewarming party thrown by his pals Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan last month.

In an exclusive chat with OK!, the Troublemaker singer revealed he'd been asked to perform as a favour to Mark – but thinks his friend was having too much of a good time to remember the show!

Mark and Michelle hosted the big bash to celebrate them finally moving into their £3.5 million Essex mansion at the end of August.

“I don’t even think he remembers me being there,” he told us. “Ask him, ‘Did Olly Murs do a gig at your house?’ because he won’t remember."

“Everyone was so drunk and, to be fair, I actually told him, the great thing about doing a gig at midnight is no one will remember in the morning.”

Mark and Olly have been friends for years, with Mark attending Olly's three-day wedding event on the exclusive Osea Island – which they reportedly hired for more than £35,000 per night – complete with fairground rides and a music festival.

The Voice UK judge says former Towie star Mark used his Essex charm to persuade him to perform on the night.

Recalling the phone call from Mark, Olly said: “He’s a cheeky little bugger because basically I was on tour and he said, ‘Murs, mate, you know I love you, you’re my brother, and I know you’ve got a show that night, but is there any chance you can come to my house and do a gig for me?’” Olly says. “And Michelle said, ‘We’d love you to come.’"

“So I literally jumped on my tour bus and we drove to his house in Essex and then I had to go from there to Plymouth overnight – honestly!”

The party was celebrating the completion of the couple's new house, which has taken a over two years and cost a reporter £3.5 million.

After knocking down an existing £1.3 million home on the plot, the couple submitted plans for a much grander mansion complete with home gym, outdoor swimming pool, granny annexe and sprawling gardens.

Going all out, the couple, who married in 2017, have also installed his-and-hers bespoke dressing room and cinema room and decorated the plush pad in neutral tones with marble furniture.

Mark has described the end result as their “dream home”, and has been sharing the build progress on his @wrightyhome Instagram page with his 570,000 followers – including celebrity fans Natasha Hamilton and Alison Hammond .
