Piers Morgan sparked a divide on social media after the ITV presenter addressed claims made by royal biographer Robert Lacey about Meghan Markle. In his new book, Battle of Brothers, the royal author said that despite assumptions Prince Harry sparked the split with the Royal Family, the move was in fact initiated by Prince William who wanted to be separated from Meghan on a day to day basis.

Piers took the opportunity to retweet an extract from Battle of Brothers which is serialised by The Times which was initially posted by Richard Eden.

In the snippet, it was said a Kensingston royal staffer had claimed “Meghan had portrayed herself as a victim”.

It comes after allegations made in 2018 that the former Suits actress had bullied royal staff which was adamantly denied by the Sussexes.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, Piers, 56, took aim at the Duchess of Sussex.

He wrote: “Wow, I’m shocked. I thought Ms Markle was the Queen of Empathy, Kindness and Compassion?”

Piers has since reacted to a social media user who said his “sarcasm” towards Meghan was “not a good look” as the ITV presenter argued campaigners attempt to “get rid of him” for his previous remarks about the Duchess was also not a “good look”.

Another Twitter user hit out, saying: “But you’re not being urged to ‘be gotten rid of’ the guy was referencing when ITV got rid of you… which they did!

“And you go on about virtue signalling! Give me strength.”

Piers hit back confirming that he was not fired from GMB but said he refused to apologise for his comments.

He penned: “ITV didn’t get rid of me. I left GMB because I declined to apologise for disbelieving Princess Pinocchio.

“But I still work for ITV, as you’ll see tomorrow when my Life Stories show with @Joancollinsdbe airs at 9pm.”

It comes after the TV host disregarded Meghan’s claims to have had issues with her mental health while on GMB back in March.

Piers left ITV’s GMB following a row over comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex.

ITV announced the decision after Ofcom said it was investigating his comments after receiving 41,000 complaints.

His colleague Lorraine Kelly has since suggested Piers may make a return to GMB in a new interview.

She said: “He will be back in some shape or form, I have no doubt.

“I know nothing, but never count him out of anything.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back. Nothing would surprise me about Piers,” she added, speaking to The Sun.

The Scottish presenter revealed that she personally had not heard from him since his GMB exit three months ago.

“He’s been very quiet, has Piers. I’ve not heard a peep from him since,” she revealed.
