Piers Morgan, 56, and John Cleese, 82, have been going back and forth on social media in recent weeks. The former Good Morning Britain presenter, who has since announced that he has joined Rupert Murdoch’s new network TalkTV, took a cheeky swipe at the Fawlty Towers actor.

Taking to Twitter today, Piers said that he had the “perfect job” for the British comedian, who is known for his satire and on-screen quips.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, the ex-ITV host retweeted a job advertisement for Murdoch’s corporation NewsUK, who are in search of a researcher for a weeknight satirical panel show.

The post read: “Murdoch’s TalkTV is currently hiring people for a ‘weeknight satirical panel show,’ as well as a writer who can generate ‘witty monologues’ for ‘Piers.'”

The journalist took an opportunity to take aim at John in a cheeky tweet.

Piers wrote: “Perfect job for you @JohnCleese – put an application in and I’ll see if you’re still witty.”

His comments come after the comic recently addressed the presenter’s return to TV with Murdoch’s News Corp and Fox News.

Last month, John took aim at Piers as he savaged the former GMB presenter’s new role.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, he penned: “I see Murdoch is hiring Piers Morgan as a frontman.

“He will probably get about £20 million, and everyone will gasp.

“But think how much more he would be getting if he had any discernible talent.”

Clearly unhappy with John’s dig, Piers fired back at the Monty Python actor branding him a “bore”.

He fumed: “Awww, Merry Christmas to you too, Cleesey!

Piers’ latest swipe at the actor isn’t his first, with their feud dating back to 2015.

The broadcaster had claimed that John had ignored him in New York while he dined out at a restaurant.

The Monty Python star addressed the incident at the time.

He previously wrote: “Piers Morgan writes that I didn’t recognise him in a restaurant in New York. I did.

“I just didn’t want to speak to someone I truly detest.”

Meanwhile, Piers is geared up to front a nightly current affairs show with News Corp and Fox News Media later this year.

He has also joined The Sun and The New York Post as a columnist.
