Dan Walker, 44, has revealed on Twitter that it took “three washes” to change his hair colour after last night’s performance. Dan performed to Rock Lobster for the Halloween special of Strictly Come Dancing.

Three washes later… back to normal.

The BBC broadcaster donned a bright red lobster outfit to perform a jive to The B52’s classic 70s song Rock Lobster.

JoolsMJones said to Dan on Twitter: “Your evident enjoyment is a delight to see Dan.

“The big question is though, have you got all the red stuff out of your hair yet?”

To which Dan replied in view of his 728,200 followers: “Three washes later… back to normal.”

Dan had tweeted this morning about the mixed response his dance got last night, along with a smiling picture of the Strictly couple.

He said: “So many amazing comments about last night (& a few weird angry ones)

“Thanks for voting. I know I’m not the best dancer but I’m having a wonderful time learning from @NadiyaBychkova.

Dan added: “So much quality on #Strictly this year. I voted for @RoseAylingEllis who is simply tremendous.”

Dan received a mixed response for his performance last night, however this was not because of the dancing.

Some fans took to Twitter to complain that they did not understand how Dan’s performance fitted in with the Halloween theme.

SusanSm53616625 said: “Have to feel Dan was a bit stitched up, hardly Halloween theme with non scary lobsters and awful music.”

Giddyone added: “Still don’t understand how nobody questioned what the lobster theme had to do with Halloween.

“There were some brilliant outfits tonight and poor Dan gets to be a Halloween lobster?”

His performance was not liked by critical judge Craig Revel-Horwood.

Craig said: “It was like watching a horror film.

“You want to close your eyes but you can’t wait to see what’s next.”

Although he criticised Dan’s technique he did admit that he found the presenter “very entertaining”.

He gave the couple a small score of five out of ten whereas fellow judge Motsi Mabuse scored the routine a remarkable eight.

You can watch the results show tonight on BBC One at 7.15pm.
