The 45-year-old former quarterback brought up Janet Jackson’s nipplegate incident when hosting the Monday, February 13 episode of his ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast.
AceShowbiz –Tom Brady‘s recent remark about Janet Jackson‘s 2004 Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction has angered many people. The former footballer came under fire after saying the nipplegate incident “good.”
The 45-year-old made the comment in the Monday, February 13 episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast. “I think in the end, it was probably a good thing for the NFL because everyone got to talk about it,” he said. “It was just more publicity and more publicity for halftime shows.”
“Is any publicity bad publicity?” the retired athlete rhetorically asked. “That’s what they say, so who knows?”
Unsurprisingly, Tom was dragged on social media. One Twitter user in particular argued, “Janet Jackson faced public humiliation and outright misogynoir resulting in her getting blacklisted by the former CEO of CBS, but Tom Brady thinks all of that was ok because all publicity is good publicity. Sick.”
Another fumed, “I don’t think he understands the amount of s**t she went through after that backlash. That comment was too superficial and shallow. A third commented in disbelief, “????? He should be ashamed for treating Janet’s trauma like that.”
The criticism didn’t stop there. More came forward with one writing, “So a black woman’s career and reputation is damaged and she was taunted for a number of years by the mainstream media but you know what, it was good for the NFL?! Clearly too many knocks to his head.”
In case you don’t remember, Justin Timberlake accidentally tore Janet’s bra during their joint performance of “Rock Your Body” at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Justin, however, has publicly apologized for the incident.
