Sir Tom Jones appeared on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, where the legendary crooner spoke about his new album Surrounded By Time. The Delilah hitmaker was soon left issuing an apology however, after his phone went off during his interview with BBC Radio 2 host Zoe quizzing him about the interruption.

It comes as the 80-year-old discussed his latest offering while sharing the details of his live performance recorded for the show.

As Tom began talking, listeners could hear a ringing sound going off in the background.

Host Zoe commented: “The phone is going off the hook. They’re like, ‘Tom, you’re amazing. You sound brilliant.'”

She then quipped: “Is someone going to get [the phone] for you, Tom? Do you have to get that?”

A seemingly flustered Tom remarked: “Wait a minute… it’s in my pocket. Oh sorry, I’m starting to sweat.”

Zoe burst out into giggles following his on-air blunder, as she quizzed the crooner.

“Who is it, Tom?” she chuckled.

Tom replied: “I don’t know. I’ve just passed the phone to somebody else. Sort it out.”

Zoe explained that the singer could have a member of his team start taking his calls instead.

“Exactly! I’m talking to Zoe Ball right now, I can’t be taking calls,” Tom added.

The singer issued another apology as the Radio 2 presenter assured him that it was just “one of those days”.

Fortunately, Tom was not too flustered by the on-air blunder as the pair swiftly moved the conversation on.

The Sex Bomb hitmaker has been busy promoting his new album following its release.

The Voice UK coach left The One Show’s Alex Jones feeling emotional as he recounted what his late wife Linda Trenchard said to him in her final days before her death.

During last night’s episode, Tom touched on his wife’s last moments in a heartbreaking admission.

The Welsh singer explained that the first song on the album, I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall, took him back to when his late wife Linda died from lung cancer.

“I was there in the hospital room with her for the last 10 days and I said, ‘My god Linda, I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself because I won’t be able to sing, I won’t be able to get the words out,'” Tom explained.

He went on: “She said, ‘You must! Don’t fall with me! You know, I gotta go. But you don’t have to. And you’ve got to go and do what we planned to do’, which was to move back to London.’

“But she said, ‘I’ve just run out of time. But you’ve got to go and do it now.'”

In 2016, Linda, who was Sir Tom’s high school girlfriend, died at the age of 75 after suffering from lung cancer.
