Les Dennis, 68, was the face of Family Fortunes for 15 years, later being replaced by a number of familiar faces. Among them is Gino D’Acampo, who is the current host of the quiz programme.
In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, Les opened up about what he thought of his replacement as well as the advice he offered.
Les admitted he’s been enjoying the show, as he spoke about its reboot.
The star said: “I think Gino’s doing a great job.
“So I don’t see a return on the cards in the future.
“He’s doing really well and I wish him luck.
“Bob Monkhouse, when I got Family Fortunes, called me up and wished me luck with it.
“And I’ve done the same with all the hosts that have taken over since me.”
Les also admitted that Family Fortunes is one of the things fans approach him most frequently about.
However, he’s also recognised for his roles on Coronation Street and Extras.
He said when asked what people stop him for: “It can be a mix of things.
“It can be Family Fortunes, or it can be Extras.
“A lot of people still remember the Extras episode I did with Ricky Gervais, which I’m really thrilled about that people liked it so much.
“Sometimes Coronation Street you know, different people know me for different things and that’s nice as well you know?”
Les is currently on tour with the musical Fat Friends, based on the television show of the same name.
Created by Kay Mellor, the original show starred Ruth Jones, James Corden, Sheridan Smith and Alison Steadman.
The new musical stars Les and Sherrie Hewson alongside Hollyoaks’ Jessica Ellis and Lee Mead taking on the roles.
Les admitted working with Kay was a big part of why he decided to join the show.
He explained: “I always wanted to work with Kay.
“We’ve talked about it and kept meeting each other at functions and talking about it.
“And then when she asked me I thought, ‘Well, yeah, let’s do this!’”
