Cubitt-Shand Tiara: Expert discusses Camilla’s family tiara
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, 74, has had a huge number of tiaras at her disposal in her time as a Royal Family member. This includes the Greville Tiara and the tiara from the Delhi Durbar parure. She also has one special sparkling piece, that she inherited from her own family.
The Cubitt-Shand Tiara belonged to Camilla’s grandmother, Sonia Keppel, who has her own set of links to the Windsors.
Sonia’s mother was Alice Keppel, who is best known to history as the last mistress of King Edward VII.
Sonia lent Camilla the tiara for her wedding to Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973.
She was pictured in it many times on the day.

When Sonia died in 1986, the piece was passed down to Camilla’s mother, Rosalind.
Rosalind married Major Bruce Shand but opted to wear flowers instead of a tiara at her wedding.
When Rosalind died in 1994, the piece was left to Camilla, the only piece she inherited from her own family.
After Camilla married Prince Charles in 2005, she wore the tiara to the annual diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace.

She has worn it a handful of times since including in 2014 and a year later at the Royal Academy of the Arts.
The Duchess also lent the diadem to her daughter for her wedding in 2006.
Laura Lopes wore the piece with a deep v-neck cut dress for her wedding to Harry.
On.Buy.com along with Roseanna Croft Jewellery analysed the diadem to find out just how much it could be worth.
They said: “Unique in design and appearance, the Cubitt-Shand tiara belonged to the Duchess of Cornwall’s grandmother, and she inherited it when her mother, Rosalind died.
“Camilla also passed it down for her daughter Laura Parker Bowles to wear on her wedding day in 2006.”
The stunning tiara could also be worth a fortune.
According to the experts, it could fetch up to £250,000 at auction.
This makes it one of the more expensive pieces held in the Royal Family.
When Prince Charles becomes King, Camilla is likely to have access to an even bigger collection of jewellery which belongs to the Crown, currently worn by Queen Elizabeth II.
Sometimes Queen Elizabeth II will also loan her pieces to Camilla including a beautiful necklace called the Coronation Necklace.
The piece was worn by the Queen Mother on her coronation and on the coronation of her daughter, the current monarch.
Another piece that was found by the experts to be worth a fortune is the Queen’s Oriental Circlet Tiara.
It dates back to Queen Victoria who received it from Prince Albert in 1853.
The experts said: “Throughout her reign, Queen Elizabeth II has been seen in many crowns. A particularly significant one is the Oriental Circlet Tiara, originally designed by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria.
“Her Majesty has only been seen wearing it once and the dazzling diadem could fetch upwards of £6million.”
