Foodie shares recipe for his incredible 21 layer nachos that are made in the air fryer and SO cheesy | The Sun

IF you’re looking for the ultimate treat this weekend, a foodie has just the thing for you to rustle up. 

Josh Elkin, who describes himself as a “self-taught home chef”, has come up with a recipe for 21 layer nachos (yes, really!) and they couldn’t be easier.

Not only are they quick to prepare, but Josh also said they can also be made in the air fryer with a low cooking time. 

And he hasn’t held back on the amount of cheese used for the dish, as he promises big flavour for fellow cheese lovers.

Josh, who can be found on TikTok at @thejoshelkin, said: “I was today year’s old when I realised that making nachos in the air fryer is the best way to make nachos.”

He then revealed the ingredients you’ll need to add to your shopping list next time you’re in the supermarket.

This included Doritos, ground taco beef, black beans, salsa verde, and the all important factor – lashings of cheese.

Josh then demonstrated the recipe in his TikTok video as he went into the order in which the Mexican dish should be layered.

He explained: “These nachos have 21 layers – Doritos, ground taco beef, Mexican blended cheese, salsa verde.

“Then I added a layer of black beans and another layer of Doritos.”

However, he didn’t stop there. He continued: “On top of those Doritos goes another layer of Mexican blended cheese, some pickled jalapenos, a little bit of raw white onions.”

He then sprinkled on “another layer of Doritos, another layer of cheese, some pico de gallo , more salsa verde, more black beans.”

But the finishing touch? Josh said: “You guessed it!

“A final layer of Doritos, plus some more ground taco beef and a thick layer of Mexican blended cheese layered on some fresh jalapenos.”

Once the dish was prepared Josh said to place it into the air fryer at 400 degrees for just 10 minutes.

But he added: “And if you’re counting, there’s definitely three more layers – sour cream, guacamole and more more pico di gallo.”

As he served up the final result, and showed the delicious cheese melted, Josh’s 1.8 million followers all had the same thing to say.

One impressed person wrote: “Thanks sir – now I want nachos.”
