I got tear trough filler but it went so wrong – it's my biggest regret ever…girls, please don't make the same mistake | The Sun

A YOUNG woman has revealed that she got tear trough filler but it went badly wrong.

So if you’ve been debating a trip to the aesthetics beauty salon, you may want to listen up.

Carla Louise Tollworthy explained that she had tear trough filler, but it had badly migrated, leaving her face looking incredibly swollen.

As a result, the beauty fan paid £120 to get the filler dissolved, but unfortunately, the dissolving process didn’t go as smoothly as Carla had hoped.

Sharing her filler fail on social media, in a bid to warn other women and make them think twice before having the procedure done, Carla revealed: “My biggest regret was having tear trough filler done and then having them dissolved a year later as it had migrated.

“So the aim of this is for girls just to be soooo sooo careful.”

Tear trough filler is a non-surgical cosmetic treatment for those who wish to correct tired-looking eyes.

It involves injecting a hyaluronic acid filler into the tear trough area, reducing the appearance of dark circles or hollows under the eyes.

Such fillers are most likely to go wrong when they are performed by unskilled practitioners, who lack the proper understanding of patient anatomy, may choose the wrong type of filler, or do not appropriately select patients suitable for this type of treatment.

In the short social media video, Carla shared snaps throughout the filler journey.

She first shared a close-up picture, showing her migrated filler, as she wrote: “Had tear trough filler that had migrated and made my face look puffy and swollen!

“So here’s my journey of getting them dissolved!”

Hyaluronic acid fillers may be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase/hyalase. The enzyme is injected into the filler to break it down.

Carla shared a picture soon after getting the filler dissolved, as she confirmed: “First day of getting them dissolved. Had a patch test done, no problems at all.”

However, Carla’s face soon began to swell, as she added: “What I thought was just the normal swell…

“Next day, fresh face and make-up on to cover the bruising.

“Was happy with getting my filler dissolved.”

A day later, Carla’s face began to burn, as she wrote: “Sunday morning, I started to get really swollen, sore and burning.

“So a trip to the hospital and they said I was having an allergic reaction to the stuff from dissolving the filler.

“They told me to take strong antihistamines.”

The next day, Carla penned: “Monday morning I woke up to my whole face feeling like I had in seven [boxing] rounds.

“I knew this wasn’t normal…so a trip to the doctors that Monday morning to be told it’s now infected and now on antibiotics and stronger antihistamines.”

Carla then shared a variety of pictures of her face, with her under eyes incredibly swollen.

She then added: “And today is now Thursday with some swelling and redness but slowly improving.

“So the whole point in this video is for girls to be soo careful with having tear trough fillers done and wanting them dissolved!”

Carla later confirmed: “I did have a patch test done wasn’t 24 hours before.

“I paid £120 for them to be dissolved.

“I ended up having a delayed allergic reaction to them getting infected.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @carlalouisetollworthyxo, has clearly left many stunned, as it has quickly racked up 11,800 views in just three days.

Social media users were horrified at Carla’s allergic reaction and many revealed it had put them off of having the procedure done.

One person said: “Omg I really wanted mine doing but this is the second video I’ve seen now saying the same thing.”

In response, Carla replied: “All I would say is make sure you do your research.”

Another added: “I really wanted this done but I have seen this so many times on TikTok happening to people. I’ll just stick to Botox. Hope you're ok!”

A third commented: “Is it common for it to migrate? I’ve been wanting them for soo long.”
