I spent days turning a trampoline into a swimming pool in my garden – I definitely shouldn’t have bothered | The Sun

THIS summer’s heatwave led to many people wishing they had a pool in their backyard, and one TikToker made this a reality – although perhaps they shouldn’t have bothered.

TikToker George Ashcroft shared a number of videos, showing the process of turning a trampoline into a swimming pool, and why it may have been a waste of time to do this in the UK.

The first video in which George shared his new project was posted on 15 August, and has since received over 4 million views.

Although, as he revealed the finished pool not everyone was a fan, with one commenter writing: “Make a better pond lol.”

“Blue green algae in 4 days. Hospital day 5 [laughing emoji]”, wrote another.

And while George jokes that his “ghetto pool” has been a hit among his friends, the water temperature is freezing cold, which may be okay during a heatwave but may not be ideal at any other time.

In his third video, George shares that they did treat the water to avoid any algae forming in the pool, although some viewers pointed out that he may still want to get a pump as it’s still just stagnant water.

Once it was finally completely finished he said that the weather changed, joking: “Then British summer time ended and it rained for eternity.”

Although one commenter pointed out that in the current heat he could probably still use the pool even in the rain, writing: “Even though it's raining it's still hotter than a pub lasagne and chips in the UK right now so could just sit in the rain anyway.”

“Well at least next year ..you are ready to just get in”, added another.

While a third wrote: “I thought raining for an eternity is an English summer?”

George certainly isn’t the only person to DIY their own pool this summer, with one mum making a swimming pool out of an old paddling pool and some junk.

And one dad even made his own swimming pool using old wooden pallets.
