A SAVVY daughter has revealed how she transformed her parents' living room with one simple DIY – and people can’t believe how different it looks.
Meg Clancy shared that she stripped the white paint off her parents' windowsill to reveal the natural wood in a bid to break up their ‘50 Shades of Grey’ front room.
The keen furniture flipper, known online as @justmegsdiy, regularly shares home transformation ideas with her 1,400 followers.
In a new TikTok reel, she said: “So I decided to give my parents’ house a bit of a spruce up because it’s just boring and fifty shades of grey.
“So I started with this windowsill shelf.
“I couldn’t find any inspo pics but basically dark, natural wood.

“I gave it a bit of a cleany cleany, added a layer of stripper, and I thought this was going to be really satisfying because it was bubbling up really quick, but then I stripped it back, and uh no, just loads of white.
“So I had to add like 15 more layers of the stripper and then you could finally see the natural wood.
“But this was the worst, it took me so long.
“I got to this point, couldn’t take it anymore, and just started sanding which again took forever.

“And then we got to this point which is delish.”
During the 52-second video, Meg is seen stripping the paint and sanding the wide windowsill to reveal the light, natural wood underneath.
Shoppers can get paint stripper from various retailers, including Amazon, with prices starting at just £6.96.
They can also pick up the same handheld sander, the Black+Decker Corderd Detail Sander from B&Q, currently priced at £20.
She continued: “Then I started to stain it. This bit always gets me because it literally looks bright blue but it’s absolutely fine.
“So then I added wax and sealant, and voila. Stunning.”
Again, keen DIYers can pick up wood stain from Amazon, with prices starting at £8.71.
Fans loved the speedy transformation, with the video gaining more than 22,400 likes and 428,900 views.
In the comments, other TikTok users shared their reactions, with one writing: “God that’s gorgeous.”
