I wanted cute hair extensions but they left me BALD and bleeding – I was forced to shave my whole head | The Sun

A WOMAN has claimed that she was left bald and bleeding after getting botched hair extensions at a Scots salon.

Shauna Higgins, 24, booked an appointment with Oh So Gorgeous hairdressers in Dundee after suffering from medically induced hair loss.

Shauna paid £1,300 for mesh integration hair extensions back in December 16 last year to salon owner Mandy Collins.

The process sees hair extensions integrated with the customer's hair and connected to a mesh hairpiece which is place at the root.

Ms Collins advertised herself as a hair loss specialist and an award winning stylist.

After they were installed, Shauna claims the extensions and her own hair started to fall out.

And she was left bald within just four weeks.

Her scalp began to bleed and she also suffered from horrific blistering leaving painful scars.

She told the Daily Record: "Mandy was meant to be qualified and the best at what she does.

"She was confident she could fit the hair extensions and took £1,300 up front in cash. As soon as the hair extensions were in, problems started."

When she raised the issues to the salon at the beginning, Shauna was told that she needed more rows of extensions fitted and was charged a further £50 to "fix" the issues with a different method – which was supposed to give her fuller coverage.

A week after that, the hair piece and extensions were hanging loose from her head and pulling at her scalp.

Shauna made the difficult decision to shave her head at the beginning of February after a painful few months.

She added: "One by one the extensions began falling out, taking chunks of my hair with it.

"Then my scalp started to bleed and blister. I had huge red patches where the mesh had been pulling on my skin. Every day more bald patches were appearing.

"It got to the point where I had more bald skin than hair left. "

After losing her hair, Shauna was offered a new hair extension system for free by salon boss Ms Collins.

However, she asked for a full refund in February this year but claims her request has been ignored.

In May, Shauna hired a solicitor and threatened legal action but there has been no response to letters from the salon boss.

Shauna added: "Mandy has caused me a lot of physical and emotional pain. I don't want to see another person go through that.

"I've been overcome with depression and anxiety and I am deeply uncomfortable about my appearance. I don't go out in public.
