I was left gobsmacked after nosy neighbour told me to stop wearing lingerie – in my OWN house

A WOMAN was left gobsmacked after her nosy neighbour told her to stop wearing lingerie in her OWN house.

She received a furious knock on the door about her choice of indoor attire from a local resident who said his young daughter had seen her – through a pair of binoculars.

And to make matters worse her own husband even sided with the man, saying she should dress more modestly behind closed doors.

The newlywed woman shared her bizarre problem with Reddit users on the AITA forum, in a bid to gain some reassurance of the situation.

She explained she recently returned from her honeymoon with her hubby and has still been wearing lingerie after coming home, meaning she occasionally pottered about in underwear first thing in the morning.

The woman explained: "The other day I was in the kitchen preparing coffee while my husband was out and heard a knock on the door, I immediately went to grab my long rope before answering."

She was greeted by her disgruntled next-door neighbour, who told her his seven-year-old daughter has a straight view into the lounge from her bedroom.

He described his outrage at the fact the youngster had recently spotted her wearing "inappropriate clothes" while using her binoculars.

The woman continued: "I was taken back.

"Turns out his daughter uses her binoculars to supposedly watch the yard but she obviously peeped through our large glass windows to see inside even though we have curtains on."

The rude neighbour told her it was unbecoming and that his child had "seensomething she cannot unsee, that is not appropriate".

She said in the post: "I asked him what he meant and he requested that I be a little considerate when it comes to clothing (or lack of) but I thought that was just ridiculous since that it is my house."

Despite her insisting she can wear what she likes in the comfort of her own home and that the little girl had "no business peeping", the nosy neighbour defended his position.

He argued his daughter was just a "curious" child and did not mean any harm, before the woman asked him to leave.

She added: "He didn't take it well and implied that he'd take steps to ensure I don't 'expose' his daughter to stuff like that in the future.

"He left and I just thought my entire day was ruined especially after he said he'd bring this incident to the neighbourhood group's attention."

'PROBLEMATIC'

After informing her husband about the dispute expecting his support, he coldly told her he agreed with the man and she should "just leave the lingerie in the bedroom".

He even instructed her to "learn to put some decent clothes on to avoid this type of incident".

"He also said I was wrong to speak to our neighbour like that and that if he was in his shoes and his kid witnessed 'that' he'd be just as furious if not more, so we should cut our neighbour some slack," she added.

But shocked Reddit users rushed to the woman's defence, encouraging her to stand her ground and wear what she likes.

One wrote: "Both men are blaming you for being comfy behind closed doors while the neighbour's child peeps through windows with binoculars.

"He should teach his child to mind their damn business."

Another added: "I have a seven-year-old. If she did that I would take away the binoculars and have a serious talk with her about respecting privacy."

And a third chimed in: "Your neighbour is and the fact your husband agreed with them is problematic as well.

"He should buy you more lingerie as an apology. Then you can wear it around your house."
