I'm a gypsy girl – here's everything people want to know about weddings in our culture – there's no invites for starters | The Sun

A GYPSY girl has revealed what really goes on behind the scenes at a wedding in her culture.

Charlotte Ann explained how she's regularly asked how traveller and gypsy weddings work so she decided to share a rare insight – including that guests shouldn't expect invites.

In the clip shared to TikTok (@charlotteann00), she begins by answering one of the most common questions: "How do you know how much food to order?"

Charlotte explains: "You don't…so usually what you do is you over order the food and you usually order too much food to what you need, and you usually have a buffet at night time as well.

"The main meal is mainly for like elder people that come earlier on in the wedding because the younger people will be coming later on at night."

She goes on to say how when she was a teenager, and even now because she's not married, she wouldn't be thinking about food.

"You get a bit of the buffet if you want to and usually it's a free bar so you just get yourself a glass of Coke and chat to the girls."

Charlotte adds that gypsy weddings tend to be a lot bigger and a lot less informal or intimate compared to "country people weddings."

She continues: "Ours are more open for everyone to have a good time, but not every traveller or gypsy weddings are like that, just some.

"Not everyone can afford to have these big, massive weddings, but generally it is more open, more people can go, there are no invites and things like that."

It wasn't long before the post went viral and racked up several comments, with others desperate to know more.

"This is very interesting, I never knew this! Do travellers not usually go to the ceremony before the reception later?" asked one.

Charlotte replied: "Close family go to the church part."

A second questioned: "Who pays for the wedding? Brides father? Groom?"

Charlotte responded: "The daddy of the bride."
