A NEW homeowner has revealed the free cleaning hack that saved her stress and tears after she spilled paint on her carpets.

The tip was shared in a YouTube video about 12 life-changing hacks titled "Cleaning Hacks You Need to Know."


Listed as hack No. 12 on the collection of videos shared by NewsFlare was a cleaning hack to remove paint from a carpet.

The unidentified woman recording the footage says: "Oh my God, you guys. This has to be the most clutch hack ever.

"You have to save this. You might not use it today or tomorrow.

"But I never thought I would need this until about a week ago when this happened to me in our brand new house."

The woman appeared to spill a light pink colored cannister on a shaggy new carpet.

She admitted she was ready to cry or potentially "throw the whole house away" after her unfortunate mishap.

But the day was saved with the help of a paint scraper, a bucket of hot water and a shock vacuum.

First, her husband scraped the paint off the carpet using two scrapers, one to remove the excess paint and the other to collect it.

The woman explained: "If you don't have a carpet cleaner, this is for you. All you need is hot water.

"You scrape it up at the beginning, all the excess that you can, and then, you pour hot water on it.

"And then, you vacuum it with a shock [vacuum] and look at this; it looks brand new."

As she talked about the process of how to remove paint from a carpet, her husband repeated the process of pouring hot water on the stain and sucking it up with the vacuum.

Meanwhile, Zoe Smith, From Lincolnshire, had a similar issue and a fairly unique hack.

Zoe shared a video on TikTok of the aftermath of paint being dropped all over her expensive floor.

"Sooo much scrubbing to try and get it out," she said of the initial mess.

"I literally just used a small amount of washing up liquid and warm water while the paint was wet."

She added: "Use a wet and dry to suck u the water after!"

People were amazed that she achieved the impossible and managed to get the glossy paint out of the carpet.
