NOW that skinnies are out, we have a brand new fashion dilemma – what shoes should we wear with straight leg jeans?
Luckily, a style pro has come to the rescue, as they’ve revealed there are particular styles of shoe that look best with the wardrobe staple – plus ones that should be avoided whenever possible.
Liz Teich, a fashion stylist and style expert from New York, said people aren’t alone in scratching their head over what to pair their new favourite jeans in.
But she said that by following the advice shared on her TikTok profile @thenewyorkstylist, they will soon have their answer.
This means they will be able to confidently step out knowing they are on trend and ticking all the right boxes.
In a new video, she asked: “Are you confused about what shoes look best with your straight leg jeans now that hems are longer? Here’s the guide.”

Liz then went through each staple shoe for autumn and explained the do’s and don’ts of how to wear them.
First, she concentrated on everyone’s favourite autumn shoewear – boots.
She explained: “When it comes to longer hems, opt for a boot that is either pointy or almond toe.
She added: “Never a chunky round toe.”

Trainers, meanwhile, come with their own unique set of rules and it’s all to do with their height.
Liz continued: “Make sure that your trainer tongue doesn’t get caught in the hem.”
She added that to avoid this, you can simply “opt for a lower profile sneaker or a high top” to ensure it fits the brief.
The final shoe Liz had her say on was a popular choice for everything from work to dinner plans – flat shoes.
She explained: “When it comes to flats and loafers, make sure there’s some separation between your hem and your shoe just to give a little space.”
Opt for a boot that is either pointy or almond toe.
Liz was also keen to say that all three tips had the same outcome, as she concluded: “All these tips will help elongate and create a better look.”
And her social media followers were very thankful for the advice on the frustrating fashion conundrum.
