Miranda Kerr on how she gets that supermodel glow

The 40-year-old mum of three, who lives in Los Angeles, is a former Victoria’s Secret angel who has posed for designers including Chanel and Dior as well as high street favourites H&M and Mango. In 2009 Miranda launched her own beauty brand, the awardwinning Kora Organics. Here she shares insider secrets she’s learned along the way.

MOVE YOUR BODY

I’ve recently started running and I absolutely love it. If I’m having a hard day or I’m tired, it makes everything feel better because of the endorphins released. I wasn’t a natural runner – I’ve always been a yoga girl – but it gets easier and easier.

DAILY BODY BRUSH

When I wake up in the morning I shower, then once I’m out and dry, I dry body brush all over. It’s good for circulation and lymphatic drainage. It also wakes you up and stimulates your whole body. I love cold showers too.

SCENT YOUR DAY I like to choose my fragrances depending on how I want to feel that day. I love peppermint, and tend to use a cleanser and toner with it in – it wakes me up and is uplifting, setting me up for the day. To chill out I’ll reach for basil, rose or geranium. I find that those scents really calm and soothe me.

PINCH YOUR CHEEKS My grandma taught me to pinch my cheeks to bring out some rosiness – this is especially good if you have no blush to hand, or you want to refresh it over the course of the day. I apply blush to the apples of my cheeks only. To me if you swipe it all the way up to your hairline it doesn’t look natural. I also love a multitasker – one product that I can use on my cheeks, lips and gently wash across the eye too.

NATURAL SKIN Make-up should never be cakey, or look like you’re wearing a mask. One trick I’ve learnt for super natural skin is to put a drop of face oil in your concealer pot, then get your brush and apply it over your face. It just looks like skin, as it should.

GET CREATIVE When I was starting out I was taught to curl my lashes with a spoon. It’s easier than you think. You heat a spoon in a cup of warm (not hot) water, place the curved side onto your closed eyelid and gently press your lashes against the curved edge of the spoon for 10 seconds. The heat curls them, then you can apply mascara to hold them in place. You can use an old toothbrush to brush up eyebrows too.

SUSTAINABILITY If everyone makes conscious choices when it comes to sustainability, we can make a real difference to the planet long term. Look for packaging that is reusable, recycled and recyclable. Consider whether something is climate neutral, to ensure its energy is offset, or certified organic, so its manufacture doesn’t involve spraying chemicals on the crops.
