A WOMAN has shared her exasperation after her husband revealed he wanted to name their baby after their pet cat.
She was incredulous and somewhat bewildered when he said he wanted to name their son Brutus – a name shared with their feline friend.
There was further incredulity for this young lady when her man started to call her growing bump by the same moniker.
Seeking some clarity and even some reassurance, she took her naming issue to the online forum Reddit.
There she was met with a lot of support and enthusiasm for the name choice.
"I'm pregnant. Our cat's name is Brutus," she wrote with great understatement in her post.
"My husband has decided that Brutus is an amazing cat with an amazing name and the baby should be called Brutus."
His logic was somewhat lost on her.
"I think it's 60/40 joke/serious suggestion," she wailed.
"I would like to have an actual comeback alternative every time he refers to my belly as Brutus. Suggestions?"

Despite its Roman associations, the comments section to her post did not descend into a gladiatorial ring, but there was no clear consensus.
One person gave some good advice: "Just tell him straight up that you can’t give your baby the same name as your cat."
Another parent who gave their son an unusual name shared their experience.
"I have a Magnus in Massachusetts. Before he was born people weren't super receptive to his name but I didn't care because I loved it.
"Now he gets compliments all the time and everyone feels it just suits him perfectly."
Another commenter with another pet sharing the same name said: My dog's name is Brutus and you're right, it's the best name!
"We said if we had a son we would name him Bruce, but we didn't end up using that name in the end."
Finally, there was another Roman-sounding suggestion from this commenter: "I'm voting for Cassius, I love that name," they said.
