My mother-in-law refuses to use my baby’s name because it’s ‘too hard to pronounce’, she’s even asked me to change it

A WOMAN has been left frustrated after her mum-in-law refuses to use her baby’s real name as it’s “too hard to pronounce”.

The upset mum revealed the relative even asked her to change the name of her child.

Taking to Mumsnet, the anonymous woman said: "My mother-in-law won't use my baby's name.

"I have four daughters, my youngest is one next month.

"My MIL won't use her name, just calls her ‘baby’, she says it is impossible to pronounce.

"She now has other family members doing the same and they won't use her name either, even though they did to begin with.”

The mum said it's not “impossible” to pronounce and in the beginning the woman had made attempts to say the little girl's name, but just called her something "not even remotely similar."

Many people questioned what the daughter was called, and the mum revealed her name is Aerith, which is pronounced like "air-ith".

Many people were shocked and said the woman should ignore the mum-in-law and put her foot down.

One said: "She won't call her baby forever. You can't dictate what she calls her.”

Another added: "I think that every time she’s calls her Baby, you need to correct her.

"Make it uncomfortable and awkward for her. Same with relatives.

“If she sends a card with Baby on, return it. Zero tolerance!"

Some suggested that the mum could find a nickname the grandma could use as a compromise.
