Poppy Cardigans, Printed Sweaters — We ID’d All These Clothes From Black-ish Season 7
Anyone who has seen ABC’s Black-ish knows and loves the way current day sociopolitical issues are expressed through a mix of family life norms and comedic style (think awkward family sitcom with a twinge of social justice). As you might expect, costume designer Michelle Cole keeps the fashion as current as the issues. You really can’t go wrong with Tracee Ellis Ross playing Rainbow Johnson as one of the main leads being such a large fashion icon herself – did you see her in The High Note or when she wore 12 different looks to the AMAs in 2018?
Rainbow Johnson’s style is elegant and sophisticated, incorporating a lot of textures, prints, and colors into her wardrobe. Throughout the current season, we have seen her in printed long-sleeved jumpsuits by the likes of Isabel Marant and Stella McCartney, as well as classic two-piece sets from brands such as Kenzo, Zara, Co, Victoria Beckham, and Rachel Comey.
Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) is known for his bright, colorful, printed sweaters and polos. He definitely doesn’t shy away from high end designers, wearing casual sweatshirts by Alexander McQueen, AMI, Acne Studios, Burberry, Amiri, Versace, and Gucci. One of Andre’s most iconic pieces would definitely have to be his bright floral Etro polo T-shirt.
Although a lot of attention may go to Rainbow and Andre’s style, their children Junior, Jack, and Diane are definite talking points. Junior (Marcus Scribner) wears brands like Scotch and Soda, Sandro, Ovadia & Sons, and Kenzo — his style mimicking his father’s with bright colors and splashy prints. Jack (Miles Brown) has stuck to brands like Urban Outfitters, wearing graphic Tupac t-shirts. Diane (Marsai Martin) has evolved as the series has progressed, but her most frequently worn brands are Maje, Sandro, and AQUA. She takes an edgy approach to playful patterns, like tie-dye and rainbow. And even though she’s not in the current season, we’d be remiss not to mention Zoey Johnson (Yara Shahidi), who has a very iconic style that she showcases in the Black-ish spinoff Grown-ish.
