ABBA was a Swedish music band known for top hits including Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me or Money, Money, Money. Now Channel 5 is releasing Abba: Secrets of Their Greatest Hits to unveil the stories behind some of the supergroup’s best-loved songs. But after their very successful career, how much are they worth?
ABBA formed in Stockholm in 1972 and the group’s name is an acronym for the first letters of their first names.
Members Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Benny Anderson and Björn Ulvaeus were good friends and soon became couples.
According to CelebrityNetWorth, ABBA has an estimated net worth of £900 million, with each member making a fortune of approximately £229million during their career.
But how did they make so much money?

ABBA became worldwide famous after they won Eurovision in 1974 with their song Waterloo.
The band topped the charts between 1974 to 1983 with some of their hits selling over 150 million copies.
ABBA made most of its fortune through tours and performances over decades.
However, the band’s income increased considerably after films and TV shows.
In 1999, ABBA’s music was adapted into the musical Mamma Mia! that toured worldwide.
The band reportedly made £3.1 million from the musical’s royalties.
The show still is one of the most popular musicals in London’s West End and Broadway, in New York.
In 2008 they released Mamma Mia! the movie, which was the highest-grossing film in the UK that year.
The DVD sold over 1.7 million copies on its first day, beating the record of 1.2 million copies set by Titanic in 1998.
Part two of the movie, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, was released in 2018.
The band currently keeps making money from royalties including the ABBA museum they have in Stockholm.
During their singing years, the band consisted of two married couples: Agnetha Fältskog, 71, with Björn Ulvaeus, 76, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, 75, with Benny Anderson, 74.
As their popularity increased, their marriages suffered which resulted in the divorce of both couples.
ABBA split in 1983 and Björn and Benny added to their worth by starting a band called Chess.
Their final public appearance together as ABBA was on The Late, Late Breakfast Show in 1982.
The band appeared again in 2018 together for a reunion.
