Does your partner always steal the duvet in bed? This could be the reason why – according to science

WHEN it comes to the most annoying people to share a bed with, duvet hoggers are definitely up there with snorers and sleep talkers.

Now researchers think they have discovered the reason some people steal the covers – and it's all to do with their childhood sleeping habits.

People who had 'bedtime companions' as children – such as teddy bears, dolls and blankets – and considerably more likely to hug the covers now they have abandoned their beloved stuffed toy.

They're also more likely to toss and turn or wake up frequently during the night, according to the study by Best Mattress Brand.

The company surveyed more than 2,000 participants and found that 35 per cent of people who slept with dolls as kids now steal the covers, compared to just 19 per cent of those who slept alone.
