‘We have hamburgers, chicken burgers, tacos, pizza, fish and chips and fried rice,’ one mum wrote.

‘Our family favourite [is] homemade sticky sesame chicken,’ another said.

Another woman also revealed how she prepared homemade KFC chicken for her niece and nephew.

‘This KFC fakeaway as real as it gets. I hope my nephew and niece won’t get mad when they find out it’s fake,’ Katrina said and shared an image of the crispy golden chicken.

For added effect, and to convince the children the food was from KFC, she packed the crispy golden chicken inside an original takeaway box.

To make the delicious meal, she began by slicing the chicken into thick strips and coated each side in garlic salt, cayenne, paprika and onion powder.

In a bowl, she combined milk, chicken broth, flour and an egg together and doused the chicken in the mixture.

To allow the flavour to develop, the bowl was left to set in the fridge for two hours.

Once the time had passed, the chicken was coated in the seasoning a second time before frying in a pan on medium heat.

HOW CAN I MAKE ‘HEALTHY’ KFC AT HOME?

INGREDIENTS

 500grams of chicken breast, sliced

60grams of crushed corn flakes

80grams of light-mayonnaise

20grams of sriarcha

10grams of chipotle

Two eggs

 Salt and pepper

One kilo of potatoes

2tsp of paprika

2tsp of garlic powder

2tsp of onion powder

2tsp of cayenne pepper

METHOD

Take the chicken in a bowl and add one tea-spoon each of paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder and garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Take another bowl and add the crushed cornflakes and add one tea-spoon each of paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder and garlic powder, salt and pepper.

Take a third bowl and add two eggs, whisk them together.

Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, coating it completely. Then dip each piece into the corn flake mix.

Add each slice to a lined pan and put in the oven for 20 minutes on 180C.

To make the chips take one kilogram of low-carb potatoes, peel and slice into chip shapes.

Cook in the air fryer for 20 minutes, also at 180C.

To make the sauce combine the chipotle, sriracha and mayonnaise, then mix.

Serves four.
