Hooters fans ‘opt to go to McDonald’s’ after ‘awkward’ moment at new Brit diner

Hooters customers at a new Brit chain say they won't be going back – after being totally cringed out by an impromptu performance.

Customers were left wincing after the waiting staff at Hooters Liverpool started singing in American accents in a viral TikTok video.

Hooters – which has one other UK site in Nottingham – was granted a license to open in Liverpool following a hearing in February.

The US franchise, known for its staff who wear tight orange hotpants and vest tops, opened the new restaurant on November 21.

Its newest outpost, located at New Zealand House, quickly became a social media sensation as stunned diners recorded their Scouse servers starting a mid-shift rendition of AC/DC's 'You Shook Me All Night Long'.

The group of young women were heard doing their best American accents for the performance – but viewers couldn't help but cringe as many claimed they'd much rather eat at McDonald's or a Greggs.

One user wrote: "That's tonight’s sleep paralysis dream sorted hahahaha why is that the most awkward thing I've ever seen."

Another added: "Am from Liverpool and I'd rather go to Maccies get a Big Mac large fries, and sit next to the window and talk to meself. Can't see this lasting tho it's too tacky." [sic]

A third claims they didn't see the franchise being very successful in the UK, saying: "I’m saying within a month they’ll be about 3 of them, staff, doing that. Then after another 3 months, the place will be a fancy Greggs."

A fourth wrote: "Na I can't have all that shouting while I'm out for dinner it's bad enough when seated next to screaming kids…. just let me eat it peace."

However, plenty of others took to the comments claiming to love the new restaurant – mainly for the view of women in skimpy shorts.

One commented: "Great vibes."

Another added: "The guy looking like a kid in a candy shop."

A third said: "Off to Liverpool."

A fourth wrote: "Look like my type of party."
