John Mulaney’s ex Anna Marie Tendler reflects on ‘harsh and punishing’ year
John Mulaney’s ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, posted about feeling “weird vibes” on Mother’s Day as the comedian and new girlfriend Olivia Munn celebrated as first-time parents.
The artist, 36, posted a photo of herself on Instagram Sunday in a black gown, blindfolded while holding her dog in her arms like a baby.
She captioned it, “A photograph for everyone who feels all the weird vibes on this day. It’s ok to sit with those.”
Tendler also listed the date she apparently took the photo, March 7, 2021, which a user pointed out may have had special significance.
“The date of the photo…can’t imagine the pain you were feeling. Sending love,” one follower wrote, with another adding, “Google the timeline of her and her ex husbands relationship.”
Mulaney, 39, officially filed for divorce from Tendler in July 2021, but sources exclusively told Page Six that the comedian had asked to separate that February. The photo Tendler posted was likely taken as she was dealing from the fallout of her seven-year marriage.
Meanwhile, Mulaney was in a much more celebratory mood as he congratulated Munn, 41, on her first Mother’s Day.
He posted on his Instagram Stories a picture of the actress in a hospital bed from when she welcomed their son, Malcolm, in December 2021.
Mulaney wrote over the black-and-white pic, “Happy Mother’s Day Olivia. Thank you for the greatest gift in the world.”
He also shared a selfie of him and their 5-month-old with the caption, “Malcolm loves you so much. He told me. Last week.”
Munn pointed out in her response to Mulaney’s hospital post that the “Saturday Night Live” writer put Christmas lights in their room to “make it festive” when they welcomed their “little guy.”
Mulaney and Munn began dating in early 2021 while he was still married to Tendler.
Although the split has apparently been painful for her, the makeup artist is not putting her plans for the future on hold.
Tendler revealed in January 2022 that she wants to freeze her eggs so that she could have children of her own someday.
“There were things I never even thought about before because that was just a closed door,” she told Harper’s Bazaar at the time. “So now that it feels like not as much of a closed door, it’s something that I ruminate on a lot.”
