Keira Knightley says every woman she knows has been threatened or harassed

Keira Knightley recently opened up about her experiences with misogyny and the horror stories her female friends have shared with her.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar for its July issue, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star said she found it “depressing” that women continue to suffer unwanted remarks and advances in the era of #MeToo.

“Literally, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t been, in some way, whether it’s being flashed at, or groped, or some guy saying they’re going to slit your throat, or punching you in the face, or whatever it is, everybody has,” Knightley, 36, remarked.

The two-time Oscar nominee recalled the epiphany she had when women began stepping forward with their stories.

“It was when women started listing all the precautions they take when they walk home to make sure they’re safe, and I thought, I do every single one of them, and I don’t even think about it,” she said. “It’s f—— depressing.”

In the same interview, Knightley also touched on how she and her family handled the COVID lockdown, saying, “It felt so important to be really happy for the kids.”

Knightley shares two daughters — 6-year-old Edie and 1-year-old Delilah — with her husband, musician James Righton.
