A mother has revealed her two-year-old daughter has been sleeping in her bed for over a year after she insisted she is being visited by a ‘scary’ doppelgänger at night.
TikTok user @not.cristinayang shared her spine-chilling story in a now-viral video that has been viewed more than 4.2 million times since it was posted last week.
‘Here’s the reason my daughter sleeps in my bed at night,’ she said at the start of the clip. ‘And it’s not because I think it’s so fun to snuggle up with a toddler who kicks me in the stomach and the face.’
TikTok user @not.cristinayang shared the creepy reason her two-year-old daughter sleeps in her bed in a now-viral video
The mom explained that over a year a go her daughter insisted a woman who looks just like her comes into her room at night and tries to get her to follow her into the closet
The mom said that one night last year she had put her daughter asleep in her bedroom and woke up to her ‘screaming bloody murder.’
After putting her back in her crib for what felt like the eighth time, she decided to let her just sleep in bed with her and her husband.
She said her daughter had a few night terrors, but she was able to quiet her down easily because they were in the same bed. A few days later, she tried to get her to sleep in her own bedroom again.
‘I’d be like, “Oh, let’s hang out in your room. Let’s play. Let’s do all these fun things in your room and make it a fun place,”‘ she explained. ‘And she was like, “No, I don’t want to sleep in here, Mommy.”‘
When she asked her daughter why she didn’t want to sleep in her bedroom, she was startled by her terrifying response.
‘She’s like, “Mommy, there’s someone else that comes in here. She looks just like you, but I know she’s not you,”‘ she recalled. ‘Excuse me, what?’
The mom asked her to elaborate on what she meant, but her daughter doubled down on the claims that she has a doppelgänger.
‘She’s like, “She looks just like you, Mommy, but she wants me to follow her inside my closet, and I don’t want to go with her.”
‘That’s not me,’ the mom insisted. ‘I have never asked her to go inside her closet. I have asked her to get stuff from her closet but not go inside with me.’
Thousands of people have taken to the comments to share their thoughts, with some admittedly freaked out by the story.
After the video went viral, the mom asked her daughter if there was someone in her closet. She said her little girl tapped her shoulder and said, ‘It’s you. Scary you.’
The mom gave a tour of her daughter’s small closet, which was filled with shelving. She pointed out that it wasn’t really big enough for someone to stand in
The mom is in the process of renovating her daughter’s closet and has taken all the shelving out, which she hopes will help
‘I’m glad you believed her and let her sleep with you, one person wrote. ‘I’m always yelling at scary movies when parents still let their kids sleep alone lol.’
‘Sage her room and if that doesn’t work, maybe get a priest or someone spiritual to remove the spirit,’ someone else advised.
‘I’ve had a woman who looked exactly like my mom and kept demanding me to follow her too. My niece also saw someone looking like my sister,’ another insisted. ‘It’s real!
Others who were less inclined to believe it was a paranormal disturbance suggested she take her daughter to see a sleep specialist.
‘The same happened to me as a child. Mum thought my room was haunted. Found out as an adult, I have hypnagogic hallucinations,’ one TikTok user explained.
The mom noted in the comments that she put a camera in her daughter’s room but ‘it’s never caught anything.’
After the video went viral, @not.cristinayang broached the topic with her daughter again, and more than a year later, she knew exactly what she was talking about.
In another video, the mom shared that her daughter most recently woke up to a man who was ‘really angry’ standing on her side of the bed
The mom added that her daughter has been indicating that she sees things that no one else sees since she was a baby
‘This morning, I did ask my daughter, “Hey, does someone live in your closet?” And she was like, “Mhmm.” She nodded her head,’ she explained in a follow-up video. ‘I said, “Who lives in your closet?” And I was holding her, and she tapped on my shoulder. She said, “It’s you. Scary you.”‘

She shared in other videos that her daughter has a history of seeing people that no one else can see. Months ago, she woke up and saw a man who was ‘really angry’ standing on her side of the bed.
In another instance, the mom was FaceTiming her own mother when her daughter pointed at a framed photo featuring her late grandmother in the background.
The toddler then said the Cantonese word for maternal great-grandmother — something she had never heard before.
‘Honestly, I have no reason to not believe my daughter when she tells me these things. Her imagination isn’t quite strongly developed to tell me stories yet,’ the mom explained. ‘She’s been indicating that’s she’s been seeing things since she was months old.’
