NBC Wins Premiere Week for 12th Consecutive Year in Key Demo, Fifth Year in Total Viewers

NBC has won premiere week for the 12th consecutive year in the 18-49 demographic.

NBC finished out premiere week with an average 1.3 rating in the key demo. Additionally, NBC has outperformed other networks in total viewers with 6.8 million viewers for the week, their fifth year in a row at the number one position.

For the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1, NBC’s viewership increased by 13% compared to last year, the highest increase measured up against competing networks ABC, CBS, FOX and the CW. ABC and the CW also experienced an increase at 1% and 3%, respectively.

The airing of “Sunday Night Football” on NBC ranked number one in weekly primetime rankings with a total of 24.8 million viewers watching the Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets game held at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, per Nielsen. Since Taylor Swift, who is rumored to be dating Kansas City running back Travis Kelce, appeared at the last Chiefs game in Kansas City, the NFL has experienced a significant increase in ratings.

The latest episodes of NBC’s singing competition show “The Voice” also ranked among the top 15 shows this past week, with Monday and Tuesday’s episodes tying at #15 alongside WWE “Smackdown.” NBC additionally had six other shows place in the top 12, including “America’s Got Talent.”

The new police procedural “The Irrational” premiered on Sept. 25 with 5.6 million viewers, NBC’s most-watched drama debut since 2021. NBC is also debuting other original scripted content this season including “Found” on Oct. 3, and returning series “Quantum Leap” on Oct. 4, “Magnum P.I.” on Oct. 4 and “Transplant” on Oct. 12.
