Paul Hollywood’s dating history as he gets ‘engaged to 38-year-old landlady’

The Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood, who recently stunned fans with an unrecognisable throwback snap, is ready to say “I do.”

The judge of the hit reality TV series is reportedly engaged to girlfriend Melissa Spalding. The pub landlady, 38, and the TV star, 56, have been dating for the past three years, and Paul is rumoured to have quietly proposed a few months ago.

A source said: "Paul proposed some months ago, but they have been keeping it very quiet since then.

"It’s only in the past month that she has begun wearing her engagement ring out in public, and sharing their news with friends."

They revealedto The Sun: "There are no wedding plans in place yet."

However, this is not the first time Paul has popped the question. In 1995, Paul Hollywood met Alex Hollywood, his now ex-wife, in a hotel in Cyprus. She was a scuba diving instructor, and he was the head baker.

Alex told the Daily Mail: "We fell in love very quickly. Two weeks was all it took — we both knew."

"Paul was lovely, he made me the most wonderful pastries for breakfast. Show me a woman who doesn’t like chocolate!"

The baker and the diver got hitched after two years and moved back to the UK in 1999. After 19 years of marriage, Paul and ex-wife Alexandra split in 2017. T

he divorce was finalised in 2019. The relationship hit the rocks after cheating allegations emerged, with Paul accused of having an affair with American TV chef, Marcela Valladolid, who he was working with at the time.

Paul admitted to theMirrorhis part in the breakdown of his marriage, and in October he said: "I did have an affair in America with my co-judge and it was the biggest mistake of my life because actually I still love my wife."

He later started dating Summer Monteys-Fullam, at the time a 23 year old barmaid, after the pair met in the summer of 2017.

Paul later met Melissa at The Chequers Inn, where the baker was a regular. Romance rumours about Paul and Melissa's relationship began to circulate when the pair vacationed in Paphos Cyprus at the same five-star Annabelle hotel where he wed his ex-wife Alexandra.

They finally confirmed their relationship in December 2019 when they spent Christmas Day together at her pub, with a spokesperson for Paul stating: "They are very happily together."

A source close to the couple said: "Melissa was pulling pints and cleaning tables on Christmas Day so they didn’t get to spend much time together, but they are away now."

It is believed that shortly after Christmas of the same year, the couple headed on a romantic mini break.

Last year it was revealed that Paul was residing with his new girlfriend in the rural house he had purchased with Summer, his ex-girlfriend.

Friends previously spoke about how the couple said they are "madly in love", saying: "Paul and Melissa spent a lot of time together in lockdown. They bubbled up together and stayed at his house. Now she is there for good. They are delightfully happy, though it must be a bit strange given it was bought for Summer."
