Piers Morgan Criticized For Taking Career (& Fortune)To The US

Piers Morgan made quite the headlines back in March, after storming off live TV following his strong disapproval of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah. But that was far from the walkout of his career…

Walk Off On Live TV

In March 2021, Piers Morgan – who used to co-host the popular British morning talk show, Good Morning Britain, along with his former colleague, Susanna Reid – literally walked out in the middle of the program, on live tv.

This shocking and impulsive move came following a succession of backlash the journalist received after calling Meghan Markle a liar and sharing his strong opposition to their interview and particularly Markle’s claim that a member of the royal family had made racist comments regarding Archie’s skin color. He said:

“What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.”

As the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Oprah that she suffered from suicidal thoughts while living in Buckingham Palace, Morgan’s critics were poorly received by the viewers, with a total of 41,015 complaints made to British media watchdog, Ofcom.

After sharing his strong words of disapproval towards the former Suits actress, Piers Morgan hosted his final talk show on ITV. His Good Morning Britain co-anchors shared their objections to his outcries against Meghan Markle, with Alex Beresford – who is mixed raced – condemning Morgan’s statements by referring to his own claim that Markle once “ghosted” him. He said:

“And I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this program, a number of times. And I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle — or had one — and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since you cut her off? I don’t think she has, but you continue to trash her.”

Morgan stormed of ITV’s set right after Beresford’s words. He thereafter shared a photo of boxes from his former office with the caption “Goodbye, Good Morning Britain!”

Speculations

There have since been many speculations as to what Morgan would do next, with the most popular theory leading to the 56-year-old presenter, moving to the USA. This idea particularly caught people’s attention after the journalist appeared on TV for the first time since his exit from Good Morning Britain, in an interview with US Conservative Tucker Carlson, on Fox Nation.

Although Piers Morgan did receive a tremendous amount of backlash following his critics towards Meghan Markle, he also did receive a lot of praise. As a matter of fact, the TV presenter is reportingly in a current £10m bidding war, with both the UK and the USA offering him work.

Nevertheless, these speculations have to remain, for the time being, unanswered as Piers Morgan has yet to make an official statement as to where he will go and what he will be doing next.
