Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s huge net worth as they showcase California lifestyle

Back in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the decision to step down as senior-serving members of the Royal Family.

Stating that they wanted to “embark on a new chapter in their lives,” the announcement of their very public departure was later dubbed as ‘Megxit’ in the tabloids.

“We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen," their 2020 statement read.

"We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages."

In terms of the money comment, there was no doubt that they weren’t going to struggle. With Meghan already an established actor, and Harry being a public figure used to making speeches and appearances, it wasn’t a shock when they decided to enter the media world together.

The couple weren’t completely broke when they separated from the Royal family, either. Before Meghan left acting, she had an estimated net worth of $5 million after reportedly earning $50,000 per Suits episode, and a combined $360,000 for her roles in the 2010 films, The Candidate and Remember Me.

Prince Harry also inherited an estimated $10 million from Princess Diana's estate after her death in 1997.

Speaking to Oprah in their now infamous tell-all interview, the Duke said: “I've got what my mum left me and without that, we wouldn't have been able to do this. She saw it coming, and I certainly felt her presence throughout this whole process."

Harry also served as a captain in the British army, a role that earned him $50,000 a year. Plus, a senior Clarence House spokesperson told the BBC that the Prince and former Suits actress received a “substantial sum” from King Charles III to help make the transition easier.

Fast-forward to 2022, the couple have come on leaps and bounds financially, and it shows in their lavish California lifestyle.

After leaving the UK, the couple created a production company, Archewell Productions, and signed a multiyear deal with Netflix "to develop scripted and unscripted series, film, documentaries, and children's programming for the streaming service."

Apparently, the deal is estimated to be worth between $100 to $150 million, and their highly-anticipated docuseries, Harry & Meghan, was the first thing they released.

So, it’s no surprise that the couple, who have been rubbing shoulders with non other than Beyoncé, have bagged themselves an £11 million family home in Montecito, California.
